The project was shut down before the switch from Slipspace Engine to Unreal Engine 5, and it is unknown if it is being developed in UE5.

According to a recent report, former 343 Industries, now Halo Studios, was working on the sequel to Halo Infinite before the new leadership canceled it.
A former studio's developer revealed (via Rebs Gaming) that after the release of Halo Infinite in December 2021, the studio started working on its sequel in the Slipspace Engine. "We had such high hopes for Infinite 2," the developer shared. "I think we could have done a good job."
However, the new leadership drastically changed the plans. They decided to switch to Unreal Engine 5 for future Halo games and canceled the Halo Infinite 2 project. The creative team spent a few months learning UE5, but then, in January 2023, Microsoft laid off many studio employees, including the entire creative team. Now, it remains unknown whether Halo Infinite 2 is being developed in Unreal Engine 5.
The developer also shared that the campaign team never felt supported by the new leadership and supposed that the new team was probably outsourced.

Recently, the studio announced that its future games would be made with Unreal Engine 5 and that plenty of UE5-powered games are in the works. The first Halo Infinite will also see some changes, as it was confirmed that it will have a third-person perspective mode, which will be available this November.
Before, YouTuber Rebs Gaming already shared some insights from an ex-Halo Infinite developer on its leadership decisions in handling the development of Halo Infinite's campaign.
