Hellena Taylor, the original voice actress for Bayonetta, recently took to Twitter to speak about the reasons for not cooperating with PlatinumGames for the third part of the game.
In a series of video messages, Taylor revealed that she was offered $4,000 to voice the character in Bayonetta 3. She noted that the original offer was even less, so she wrote to PlatinumGames' vice president and the series creator Hideki Kamiya to explain to him that her work was worth more.
According to Taylor, Kamiya replied to her saying that he appreciates her work and that fans really want to hear her voice in the third part of the game. Following these negotiations, she was offered $4,000, Taylor said.
The actress shared that despite being afraid of the consequences of violating the NDA, she still decided to name the sum PlatinumGames offered her revealing details of the negotiations to "stand up in solidarity with people all over the world who do not get paid properly for their talents."
She also urged the fans of the series to boycott Bayonetta 3 asking them to avoid purchasing the game and instead, spend this money on charity.
In addition, she spoke about the current voice of Bayonetta, Jennifer Hale, saying that she loves the actress and wishes her "all the joy in the world" but noting that she has no right to call herself the "voice" of this heroine as it wasn't she who invented this voice.
According to Taylor, Hale should not associate herself with Bayonetta and participate in promotions of the game or sign merchandise. She also added that Hale's involvement in the project was a "betrayal."
Hideki Kamiya later responded to Taylor's comments calling her statements untruthful. "Sad and deplorable about the attitude of untruth. That's what all I can tell now," he wrote.
