It Takes Two Dev Unveiled Its Codename & "Extremely Early" Concept Art

Project Nuts was so much darker.

It Takes Two, Game of the Year 2021, has been considered to be one of the best couch co-op game released in recent years. The developer, Hazelight Studio, has unveiled the game's codename as well as shared some concept art from "extremely early" development period.

You might be surprised that the game was initially codenamed "Project Nuts". And those early concept images depict a much darker art style than the final product. As evidenced by numerous comments, many fans have expressed their love for these concept arts, suggesting that the developer should create a new project, jokingly titled "It Takes Three".

Since its initial release, It Takes Two has enjoyed immense success, selling over 16 million units by March 2024. It's still a popular game I would say, because if you visit some shopping malls in Beijing, where PlayStations are available for those seeking a break from shopping, you'll often find the screens displaying the game.
