Magic Nodes 2 for After Effects Released

"Combine the power of node compositing with the efficiency of layers."

Hollywood Illusion has released Magic Nodes 2, the new version of the node-based compositing extension for After Effects.

The update adds support for 3D layers and cameras as well as node groups to keep your graph nice and neat. Moreover, you can have multiple graphs in one After Effects project for better flexibility. You can visually blend your elements and adjust time and duration with the software's layers.

Other than that, Magic Nodes 2 adds an option to disable nodes in a graph, a color picker for solid nodes, and support for multi-frame rendering. Additionally, its Smart Connect system automatically links a path to the closest input of a node.

Magic Nodes was launched at the beginning of the year to "combine the power of node compositing with the efficiency of layers" so artists wouldn't have to choose one of the two workflows.

Adding a node automatically adds a layer to the Layers and Timeline panels, which makes work faster and easier. What's more, Magic Nodes removes the need to create precomps, reducing memory usage.

Magic Nodes works on Mac and Windows with After Effects 2017+. Perpetual licenses cost $89 and $149.
