Modder Made a "Demastered" PS1-Style Version of Demon's Souls

The mod by thegreatgramcracker changes the game's graphics to make it look like it was released for PlayStation 1, bringing the "aesthetics of early FromSoftware games, such as Shadow Tower and King's Field."

Morgan, a modder known on Nexus Mods as thegreatgramcracker, has created an unusual version of FromSoftware's action RPG Demon's Souls, making the game look like it was made for PlayStation 1.

Originally, Demon's Souls was released back in 2009 for PS3. The mod reimagines the game's visuals and makes it look like it was released at the time of the first PlayStation console's popularity, replicating the aesthetics of early FromSoftware games, such as Shadow Tower and King's Field.

The mod features pixelated visuals, and the creator notes that almost everything was modified manually or underwent a "home-brewed pixelization procedure." Other elements contributing to the retro atmosphere include a built-in PSX dither filter, custom pixel art loading screens, a font taken from Shadow Tower, hand-drawn armor textures, and a low-poly model for The Maiden in Black.

According to the creator, the mod only brings graphical changes, so it is compatible with online play.
