Naughty Dota 2 Players Got Their Christmas Gifts

"This year is gonna be a bloodbath," says Valve.

As December comes to a close, Valve has decided to spread some holiday cheer in Dota 2. However, alongside the gifts, it appears that there are also punishments for those who have been naughty and engaged in negative behavior within the game.

With the launch of Frostivus, cheaters and players who have violated Dota 2's rules have started receiving holiday gifts in their inventory. Upon opening the gift, they are greeted with a notification informing them that they have received a "Highly Toxic Lump of Coal" and a permanent ban from the game. Well, it's only until 2038.

It's funny that this gift is not exclusive to cheaters but can also be received by Smurf accounts, low-level accounts that experienced players create to dominate newcomers, or those who just want to have a more relaxed gaming experience.

Valve has been actively cracking down on rule-breakers lately, with thousands of Smurf accounts being banned from Dota 2 in 2023. In some cases, even usual accounts have been subject to these bans.
