NCSoft Unveiled Project LLL, an Upcoming MMO Third-Person Shooter

The game will feature a vast open world and will be released in 2024 for PC and consoles.

NCSoft, the South Korean developer best known for such video game series as Guild Wars and Lineage, has revealed its new game, an open-world massively multiplayer online third-person shooter called Project LLL. To announce the game, the studio has presented two videos, a gameplay trailer and a developer diary, as well as published a text interview with the creators of the shooter.

Project LLL is a third-person sci-fi action game, set in an alternate reality in Seoul, where the 10th-century Byzantine Empire and the 23rd century coexist in the same timeline. According to the devs, when creating the game, they took inspiration from novels such as Foundation and Dune as well as movies and series including Blade Runner and The Man in the High Castle.

NCSoft shared that Project LLL features a large open world of 30 square kilometers which is "seamlessly connected to a single environment". The game has a well-developed combat system with an emphasis on realistic animations. The devs noted that the game allows different combinations of guns, suits, tactical gear, and BCIs, which can help players engage in combat in their own way.

The project is built using Unreal Engine 5 and is planned to be released in 2024 for consoles and PC. According to the studio, with this new game, it wanted to create a new genre, something that would be different from such popular genres as looter shooter and battle royale.

"We want to create a new market that is exclusive to NC with a new IP that incorporates the keywords 'Shooter', 'MMO, and 'Open World.'," NCSoft said. "We are developing a project that combines different play styles and elements from NC’s previous games, and we are very excited to share a sneak peek with our community."

Am I the only one that has an issue with the way Unreal Engine looks? The games I play with it always look the same, very similar. From graphics to HUD or something feels like it's in "default" settings
