NVIDIA's RTX Remix Transforms Half-Life, Max Payne & SWAT 4

Modders use Portal RTX to add ray tracing to classic games.

In September, NVIDIA and Valve announced Portal RTX, a new version of the game with ray tracing and DLSS 3. The RTX Remix tech used there was then released to let modders easily capture game assets, automatically enhance materials with powerful AI tools, and reimagine classic games with a new look.

Thanks to the tool, we can now see several famous titles in a new light: creators have already shared Half-Life 2, Max Payne, and SWAT 4 with ray tracing enabled. Yes, not everything works well yet, but it's a start.

Apart from the Max Payne, and SWAT images above, you can also see how RTX fares in Half-Life 2 thanks to 2kliksphilip. "Half-Life 2 hasn't been remixed properly, so I dropped the maps into Portal's maps folder and tried them there. WITH GREAT SUCCESS," the author says.

We think it's safe to say that we'll see more awesome classics "remade" soon. What title would you like to see?
