Outgang's Laura Gallagher on Burnout and Workaholism

A piece of advice from Outgang Studio's Laura Gallagher on how to avoid burnout as an artist.

Check out this inspirational video where Laura Gallagher, a Character Artist and a Teacher at Outgang Studio, shares some information for artists on how to avoid workaholism and the problems it brings, and how to deal with burnout.

Outgang Studio is Laura Gallagher’s initiative to provide affordable, high-quality education and other tools to character artists worldwide. Laura is a veteran of the games industry, having worked almost ten years at Eidos Montreal and over two years at Guerrilla Games, in both instances up to the role of Lead Character Artist. Laura worked on franchises including Deus Ex, Tomb Raider, Marvel, and Horizon.

Laura has been teaching character art since 2012, most prominently as a university lecturer at NAD/UQAC in Montreal and online for CGMA. Over the years she mentored a sizeable number of apprentice character artists that have gone on to succeed in their chosen industry.
