Xbox confirmed the prototype had been built for Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Xbox Head Phil Spencer shared a photo of a Vault Boy statue, saying it "left the shelter and stopped by my office to celebrate the #Fallout25 Anniversary." However, what made Twitter users curious was the console-looking box on one of the shelves. Just like many guessed, it's "Keystone", the streaming device that Microsoft has been working on to integrate with Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Gaming service; it could be connected to any TV or monitor without the need for a console.
However, the device in the photo is just an old prototype, as Xbox told Digital Trends.
“The device on Phil’s shelf was an old prototype of Keystone,” the Xbox representative explained. “Earlier this year, we announced that we made the decision to pivot away from the current iteration of Keystone and are taking our learnings to refocus our efforts on a new approach that will allow us to deliver Xbox Cloud Gaming to more players around the world in the future. We have nothing more to share today.”
In May, Xbox announced its decision to "pivot away from the current iteration of the Keystone device," so when we see it, the device will probably look different from the one in the photo.
