In the long-awaited update of the tool for digital sculpting and low poly modeling, 3DCoat's library of PBR scans and smart materials becomes free.
Together with 3DCoat 2021, Pilgway releases 3DCoatTextura, a program where you can perform 3D painting and texturing as well as rendering. As the developer defines it, 3DCoatTextura is a more affordable version of 3DCoat that only focuses on the texturing part of the creation process as opposed to the main app that features a much broader toolset.
In 3DCoat 2021, you will see that the brush engine has changed and your brushes are now faster, smarter, and more convenient to use as you can fully customize them. The 2021 version features a new interface that you can modify to create a workspace that fits your needs best. You can also switch to a minimal UI layout at any time by pressing the TAB key.
One of the most painful parts of the 3D modeling process has become easier in the new version of 3DCoat — it now features smart retopology. You can import reference mesh for retopologization, use auto-retopology (AUTOPO) with user-defined edge loops, use your current low-poly mesh as your retopology mesh, or use tools for manual retopology.
3DCoat 2021 also features a rich curves toolset, low-poly modeling, sculpt layers, new kitbash room, creating bump maps from photos, and more. Plus, a library of around 2500 high-quality PBR scans, samples, masks, and reliefs is now free.
Pilgway also updated its licensing policies on 3DCoat. There are now dedicated licenses for Individual and Company customers, plus the company introduces licenses for Universities and Students that have different pricing and special rental plans. Pilgway also introduces the Unlimited Free Learning Mode which means that once your free 30-day trial expires, you can still continue learning how to use 3DCoat for free and export your files with certain limitations.
The price for the individual personal license for 3DCoat is €289. Note, however, that this is a discount price and the special offer expires in 17 days. Find more information about the release here.
