Seems like the game was ready before something went wrong.
Prince Of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake has been struggling for some time now: Ubisoft has delayed it several times and now cancels pre-orders. However, data miner Lance McDonald shared that the remake was finished, went gold, went through Sony certification, and was uploaded to the PlayStation network servers before Ubisoft decided to delay it indefinitely.
"Some people clever were able to preserve it and even decrypt it using their pre-order encryption keys. I wonder what the hell happened."
There could be any number of reasons behind the delay, although taking back a finished game is certainly unusual. Some say the company heard the negative feedback fans left about the visuals and transferred the game to the Montréal studio. McDonald assumes there could be some legal issues or Ubisoft planned to release a big day-one patch and just couldn't follow through with it. Or maybe it's just a marketing strategy.
Whatever the case, Ubisoft says the remake is not canceled although there is no release date right now. The company doesn't have any plans to remake any other Prince of Persia title.
