It's a remake, not a remaster, according to the report.

Last week, a rumor of the Halo: Combat Evolved remaster emerged, a game still in the early days of development. However, it might not be a remaster but a remake.
A new report from an X/Twitter user big baby beluga states that the developers will add some cut content and missions but will try to stay faithful to the original.
"Instead of porting MCC to PS they decided that reselling the entire series would have a higher potential for revenue. CE-3 is the plan. The dev team disliked CE Anniversary and will be learning from its missteps."
Moreover, the remake will allegedly feature modernized gameplay mechanics like sprint and "clamber." 343 Industries is said to be "in full control" of the development but will use help from outside the studio.
As for multiplayer, big baby beluga's source says that it won't be remade because the focus is on the large-scale mode, although this is more of a speculation, the user notes.
"Have not heard anything about the MP being remade so I don’t think they will. But Microsoft has put a large focus on MP so that would have to be in another direction," big baby beluga quoted the source.
The Halo 2 and 3 remakes will "launch from the same game and will follow the general story but not stick exactly to the endpoints of each campaign."
As usual, I want to emphasize that this is just a rumor that might never come true, so don't rely on it too much.
