But fans helped Jennifer English love the character.

Shadowheart is many players' favorite princess in Baldur's Gate 3, but it hasn't always been this way. We know that she was too much even for the developers themselves during the early access days, and her voice actress, Jennifer English, was no exception.
In an interview with IGN, English shared that she didn't like the character at first, but fans' love for Shadowheart made her look differently at her role. "The stuff that [players] like in Shadowheart is kind of the stuff I like about myself," and fans caught on the parts she hadn't consciously portrayed.
It's a little different for Devora Wilde, who portrays Lae'zel. Her character is much more "polarizing," and it took some players several runs to warm up to her.
"I was getting a lot of delayed responses, even now, where people are like, 'Oh, you know what? On my third playthrough, I gave her a chance and now I love her.'"
