Silo 2024.0 from Nevercenter Is Now Available

The update features a new File Instance system.

Nevercenter has released Silo 2024 – an update to the lightweight 3D polygonal modeler and UV mapper. This release features a new File Instance in the Create menu. This system enables users to reference external files within their Silo projects. Changes to these external files are automatically reflected in the Silo model.

Silo, introduced approximately 20 years ago, quickly became popular as lightweight and efficient modeling software. It offered a streamlined workflow with powerful tools like polygonal and subdivision surface modeling, real-time UV unwrapping, and a topology brush. Silo excelled in creating low-poly assets for games and real-time applications, integrating smoothly with Pixologic's GoZ bridge system.

Despite a slowdown in development, Silo regained momentum with Silo 2021, introducing Milo, a standalone real-time renderer and VR viewer based on Unreal Engine. Nevercenter, the software's developer, has consistently been updating Silo, trying to make users experience as pleasant as possible.

Recently, founder and President of Nevercenter Tom Plewe shared the origin story of Silo and Milo, delved into what sets these applications apart from their counterparts, and discussed Nevercenter's licensing approach.
