Snapchat AR Product Designer Shows a Prototype of an AI Camera

Kyle Goodrich, AR Product Designer at Snapchat, shared some demos of DreamGenerator, a prototype AI-powered camera that lets you transform photos into something else using generative AI.

The developer states the camera lets you choose from 30 prompts which will make your image morph into a new image. "AI image generators are a game changer, but coming up with the perfect prompt is tough. Plus, navigating some of these platforms feels like solving a puzzle, wrote Goodrich. "I wanted to simplify this process and create a tool that combines intuitive design with the power of AI." 

Goodrich says the camera is currently in the prototype stage. It now leverages Stable Diffusion and ControlNet. The device is said to retain the composition and pose of the original photo, making sure you have key elements of the original image. 

"I love my DSLR, but lugging around a bulky camera can feel like a burden," added Goodrich. "Smartphones do a decent job, but there’s something undeniable about the simplicity of a point-and-shoot... and I find that I take a lot more photos."
