Just three hours after its release, the game reached a peak of 62,963 concurrent players on the platform.
Stray, the new indie adventure game from developer BlueTwelve and publisher Annapurna Interactive that follows a story of a stray cat trying to find a way home, was released just a day ago but it already shows some impressive results.
It has become the most successful Annapurna game on Steam surpassing Twelve Minute's record in player count. Just three hours after its release, Stray reached a peak of 62,963 concurrent players – this is an absolute record for the publisher as none of its games has ever surpassed even the 10,000 mark.
For comparison, 2021's Twelve Minutes had an all-time peak of a little more than 8,000 concurrent players, 2019's Outer Wilds reached a peak of 7,936 players in its lifetime, 2022's Neon White's peak reaches 3,277, and 2012's game Journey that was ported to PC in 2019 had a peak of 1,757 concurrent players.
At the time of writing, the game has 32,025 concurrent players and it remains in the top 20 games by current players (sitting at No.19 place) on Steam Charts, ahead of FIFA 22, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, Stardew Valley, and Elden Ring.
Stray was released on July 19, and apart from Steam, it is also available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
