Olli Huttunen is developing a solution that creates Camera Arrays from almost any object.
3D Artist and 3D scanning enthusiast Olli Huttunen has shared a teaser for a tool in development designed to simplify the process of converting pre-rendered 3D models into 3D Gaussian Splats.
Through a virtual camera setup, image series can be rendered from existing 3D models and utilized for Gaussian Splatting training, followed by converting the pre-rendered 3D models using Postshot. Olli Huttunen explained that the primary benefit of converting 3D models to 3DGS lies in handling complex and demanding renderings, like hair and reflections, which can take a significant amount of time.
"You only need to render the heavy 3D model once. After that, the Gaussian translation can be observed and rotated in real-time. And in the future, it may be useful that 3D models can be converted to 3DGS format", added the developer.
