The Darksiders franchise is set to make a comeback, according to a teaser trailer released at the recent THQ Nordic 2024 Digital Showcase. The brief teaser highlights the Charred Council from the game series, who roar the word "horseman," followed by a statement at the end of the teaser trailer, reading "BE PREPARED TO RIDE AGAIN."
Darksiders is a popular hack-and-slash action-adventure game series that has enjoyed a strong fanbase since its debut in 2010. In the series, a post-apocalyptic Earth teeters on the brink of human extinction, with angels losing a fierce battle against demons for world control. Amidst this chaos, the last Nephilim, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, strive to restore universal balance.
Originally the brainchild of Vigil Games, the franchise is now being developed by Gunfire Games, a team that includes several original Vigil members. The game's publisher is THQ Nordic.
The information regarding this new project is still quite limited, and it's unclear if this new game will be a sequel, a remake, or a remaster. Considering that it's been almost four years since Darksiders III was launched in 2018, there is already some expectation and discussion around Darksiders IV. We're supposed to receive more information on "where the world of Darksiders is going" soon.
