In 2024, Ubisoft initiated its first round of layoffs, which will affect 45 employees as part of a restructuring effort. The cuts primarily impacted the Global Publishing and Asia-Pacific divisions.

Ubisoft stated that this challenging decision aims to align with market changes by adopting a more efficient and flexible strategy. The company plans to offer support to the affected employees and expressed gratitude for their contributions to the company's growth.

"Over the past few months, every team within Ubisoft has been exploring ways to streamline our operations and enhance our collective efficiency so that we are better positioned for success in the long term," the representative of Ubisoft stated to GameSpot.

"In this context, today we announced that we are further reorganizing our Global Publishing central and APAC structures to adapt them to the market evolution with a more efficient and agile approach. Those changes will impact 45 positions overall. These are not decisions taken lightly and we are providing comprehensive support for our impacted colleagues."

Earlier layoffs occurred in November 2023, when Ubisoft terminated 124 employees, most of whom worked in Canadian development studios.

Speaking of job cuts, yesterday, we reported that the co-developer of the Halo series announced that 25 US-based employees would be laid off. This marked the first time the studio downsized its staff in its 17-year history.
