3 Courses to Make your Artistic Skills Go Through the Roof

Today we've gathered 3 courses from world-known art schools, for artists who would like to build a career in games and cinematics.

1 of 4

The course is mentored by Alan Wilson, a 20 year veteran of the 3D industry, former QA for the Autodesk Maya/Max team. Alan's most recent works are Batman vs Superman, Hellboy 2019. Alan will guide you through the full process of building and preparing your models.

The emphasis will be on creating the environmental building of Batman vs Superman. As you work through the process, you will understand the theory of blueprints. Students will learn how to get the most out of the various tools to get the best results.

By the end of the course, students will learn the pipeline on creating a Hero Building and the substructures encompassing it.

You will learn how to create film quality environments, lighting, and atmospherics, plus how these skills translate in the real world on a stage volume. Starting with worldbuilding, you'll create landscapes using Unreal and QuadSpinner Gaea before moving on to advanced texture blending, auto materials, and water systems. Next, you'll look at all lighting, VFX, and the post-process volume to bring your scene to life. You'll understand how to work with cameras, rigs, lights, and digital humans to create a compelling scene for your portfolio.

All diploma students receive additional 1-on-1 career support, portfolio reviews, and industry insights from CG Spectrum's Career Development Manager.

The mentors of this course are Justin Mohlman (Mortal Kombat Franchise), William Faucher (Unreal Engine Education), Deepak Chetty (Gen: Lock), Simon Warwick (Batman: Arkham Knight), and Jon Robins (Marvel's Avengers).

In this course, you will dive into the artistic side of realtime FX by gaining the fundamentals you need to succeed. Your mentor will take you through the process of stylized FX creation all the way to a realistic volcano eruption using Houdini and Unreal’s Niagra particle system.

This course is mentored by Urban Bradesko, an FX and Lead Layout Artist. He worked on games and cinematics for titles such as Gears of War 5, Destiny 2, Heroes of the Storm, Deathloop, Magic The Gathering, Love Dead + Robots, and many more.
