Levitating Train was inspired by the creator's deep sensitivity to atmospheres, particularly their interplay with lighting. Light in the right scene can transform a narrative, engaging audiences by conveying something truly unique. When immersing himself in films or compositions, he is drawn to specific color palettes and atmospheres, eagerly dissecting them for inspiration.
The player witnesses a surreal scene: a train floating mysteriously above an unseen force, creating an eerie atmosphere. They're immersed in a dark, isolated forest at night, with unsettling sounds adding to the tension. The explanation for this event is left open-ended, allowing for personal interpretation.
“Before reaching the lighting stage, I had to start by modeling the train, which is the main prop of the scene. Using several real-life references, I modeled the entire train and its carriages in Maya before texturing them in Substance Painter. I then proceeded to create the trees using SpeedTree. The entire scene was assembled in Unreal Engine 5, including the lighting and real-time rendering. The final step was to add details to the ground using Megascans assets”, stated the artist.
