A Cute Interactive Short Film About a Robot Set Up on Sketchfab

Check out Spark & Bibi, a cool Blender-made animation that can be watched from any angle.

Digital Artists Conrad Justin, Igor Puškarić, Chaitanya Krishnan, Terrie Simmons, Alex Meister, and Tycho Magnetic Anomaly has recently showcased something you don't see every day – an entire short movie set up on Sketchfab, an online platform commonly used by 3D Artists to demonstrate their 3D models from various angles.

Meet Spark & Bibi, a short stylized animation set on the Martian landfill that follows the story of two robots. According to the team, this incredible steampunk movie took over a year to create and was made using Blender.

Thanks to the fact that the animation was uploaded to Sketchfab, it is highly interactive and can be explored from different vantage points, allowing you to have a closer look at each location the movie has to offer.

"It is a fresh morning on Mars," reads the movie's description. "In his lair, Spark begins his morning routine – oiling his rusty joints and reading last prints of the books he salvaged. His friend Bibi awaits with a little prank! Explore the Martian landfill together with the robot protagonists."

And here's how the responsibilities were shared within the team:

  • Conrad Justin: Lead artist, storyboarding, modeling, rough animation.
  • Igor Puškarić: Modelling, animation.
  • Chaitanya Krishnan: Observatory blockout, repository.
  • Terrie Simmons: Bones and gears.
  • Alex Meister: Several pipes, UV mapping of the turbine.
  • Tycho Magnetic Anomaly: Support and guidance.
