Game Developer RujiK has shown a cool system that can breed monsters and create myriads of children variations.
Game Developer and Pixel Artist known as RujiK, who is currently developing a Nintendo-style Spore-like game using GameMaker Studio, has demonstrated a cool crossbreeding system made for the game. According to the developer, the system is fully procedural and nothing is pre-rigged. The tool created by RujiK can combine any two monsters from the game and create tons of variations with different mutations, looks, and the number of limbs, depending on the parents.
The developer also released a video that explains how the system was created, what bugs were encountered during the development process, how it works, and more. You can check out the video down below or by visiting the author's YouTube page.
