The game is coming in 2024 for PC and Nintendo Switch.
Check out Urban Myth Dissolution Center, an upcoming adventure/visual novel game with retro-style pixelated graphics, being created by Japanese game development studio Hakaba-Bunko, with Shueisha Games acting as the publisher.
In this game, you play as Azami Fukurai, a newly recruited member of the Urban Myth Dissolution Center's staff. Your assignment involves delving into monstrous oddities, cursed relics, and dimensional anomalies, with the goal of either debunking or resolving various urban legends inspired by real-life myths.
The game takes you through an episodical digital mystery adventure presented in stunning psychedelic pixel art. As Azami, you'll need to conduct detective work by collecting circumstantial evidence and delving into social network posts to unveil the truth behind each urban legend.
You'll also need to explore the hidden pasts of the clients and understand the peculiar events that brought them face-to-face with these anomalies. Your ultimate goal is to solve each mystery the game presents, combining exploration with an understanding of the characters and their backgrounds.
"Do you believe in urban myths? Some of them may be mere rumors, but some might just be true. It's that ambiguity that keeps us coming back," commented the developers. "We've tried to recreate that feel for this game itself, aiming to create a game that spreads through word of mouth and lives on in the public mind, beyond individual lives and memories."
