Avalanche Studios co-founders Linus and Viktor Blomberg established a new studio called Elemental Games. Apart from the Blomberg brothers, the founding team also includes eight other veterans of the Swedish studio with some of them having more recent credits at DICE, Ubisoft, and Epic Games.

Among other things, members of Elemental Games have previously developed such titles as Just Cause, Battlefield 1, and Fortnite. They also participated in the creation of a number of film and TV series including Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and The Mandalorian.

Linus Blomberg stated that Elemental Games will focus on creating high-quality open-world games saying that the studio will keep evolving "systemic gameplay and the open-world genre" using the experience gained from the development of Just Cause, Mad Max, and Rage series.

The studio also pointed out that it will be privately owned as its members apparently have been frustrated by working in public companies, where investors are primarily focused on increasing financial performance in the short term.

"We've seen in the past how technology, art and design are often in conflict rather than elevating each other," shared Blomberg. "We are creating an environment where none of these disciplines dictates to the others, where we use our experience and craftsmanship in a truly collaborative way so that opportunities open up that we wouldn't even have considered in isolation."

Elemental Games is currently working on its first unannounced original IP game and developing its own open-world technology which will be used alongside third-party tools.
