Bandai Namco Asks Players Not to Play the Cracked Version of Tekken 8

"The unauthorised download or distribution of the game is illegal," commented the studio.

Back in July, Bandai Namco conducted a closed beta, allowing a small group of players to test out Tekken 8, the studio's upcoming fighting game and a continuation of the Tekken series, prior to its official release. To no one's surprise, the beta's files were cracked, allowing some players to continue playing the game even after the test period had ended.

In response to this situation, Bandai Namco has issued a statement via its Esports Twitter page, asking players not to engage with the cracked version. The company emphasized that playing the cracked version violates both the game's terms of service and the Tekken World Tour code of conduct.

"The unauthorised download or distribution of the game is illegal," reads the company's warning.

Furthermore, Bandai Namco clarified that any player found to have accessed the cracked version during Tekken 8's release will face severe consequences. Such players will be banned not only from the upcoming Tekken World Tour but also from other official tournaments associated with the game.

"Your cooperation in preserving the fairness and competitive integrity of our competition is highly valued," Bandai Namco added.

It's worth noting that this isn't the first time that leaks have occurred in connection with the network test. Previously, the roster for Tekken 8 was partially leaked, giving players who used Cheat Engine, a scanner/debugger that allows players to cheat in games and manipulate their games via various scripts, a sneak peek at part of the upcoming character lineup.

While some characters had already been confirmed to return, at least half a dozen names revealed through Cheat Engine's list have yet to be officially announced.

Tekken 8 was officially announced back in September 2022 during PlayStation's State of Play event. The game is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S at an undisclosed date. You can learn more about Tekken 8 here.
