Beat Saber To Say Goodbye To Meta Quest 1 This November

The rhythm game sensation announces a pause in its beat for Meta Quest 1 users.

Beat Saber, the popular virtual reality rhythm game, recently announced that it would discontinue support for Meta Quest 1 from November 2, 2024. The company shared the news on their official Twitter account:

Beat Saber, developed and published by Beat Games, uses VR motion controllers for players to slash at incoming objects, or "beats," to the rhythm of a musical track.

Meta Quest 1, formerly known as Oculus Quest, is a standalone virtual reality headset developed and manufactured by Oculus VR, a division of Meta Platforms Inc. It allows users to experience VR without the need for a connected PC.

In an updated FAQ, the developers have explained the reason behind this decision and what will happen after this specified date:

As we continue developing Beat Saber, our goal is to raise the bar of what's possible. To focus our efforts in the right direction, we will no longer support Meta Quest 1 devices as of November 2, 2024. You will still be able to play Beat Saber on the Meta Quest 1 devices, but Multiplayer functionality will stop and Leaderboards functionality might be phased out in the future. We will also stop releasing updates and provide customer support for the Quest 1 devices. If you want to access the PC version of Beat Saber on your Meta Quest 1, you can do so via the Meta Quest Link.

However, players can rest assured that their copy of Beat Saber and all previously purchased add-on DLC content will remain tied to their account, and is transferable and playable across the Meta Quest and Rift platform. The Beat Saber copy and add-on DLC content will be automatically transferred with the user's account when they start using a new headset.
