Michael Green, the writer of the BioShock movie, shares an update on the progress of his live-action adaptation for Netflix. The popular video game franchise, starting with its 2007 release, immerses players in the sprawling underwater city of Rapture during the 1960s, featuring an intricate storyline revolving around a genetic material that grants extraordinary abilities. While the BioShock movie has seen multiple iterations with different writers and directors, last year it was revealed that the project shifted to Netflix, with Green penning the script and Francis Lawrence taking on the directorial role.

As the WGA strike is now officially over, we can finally start talking about the adaptation. Green has recently talked to Collider and shared some updates with them. Even though there are still so many questions about the project, there is one good thing for sure – the project is still very much in development.

"You have to measure your words, or you'll start to see a laser pointer at my forehead from the Netflix legal. Netflix has been amazing about it. They were excited about it before the strike, they're excited about it now, post-strike. Yes, I got called, the, 'How's it coming along?' the minute the strike was over, 'You about ready…?' Been meeting regularly with Francis Lawrence and his team to refine a draft to go back in. We're all optimistic. We all love it. It's a great big sprawling nightmare world we wanna see real. So, here's hoping. I would love to have an update for you soon," said Green to Collider.

As for now, there is no doubt that we can expect something worth watching as the involvement of such creative talent is reason enough to generate excitement for the project. With Green's impressive track record as the writer of acclaimed films like Logan and Blade Runner 2049, his expertise in crafting gritty science-fiction narratives is unquestionable. Lawrence, as the director, also boasts an impressive filmography, having helmed notable movies, such as the entire Hunger Games series, I Am Legend, Red Sparrow, and Constantine.
