Blender 4.0 to Feature Gaku Tada's Illustration on Its Splash Screen

The software's 4.0 release is now in Beta, with the official launch set to take place in early November.

The Blender Foundation announced that Blender 4.0, a new and improved version of the company's open-source 3D modeling, texturing, rendering, VFX, and animation software, is now officially in Beta.

Set to be officially released on November 7, 2023, Blender 4.0 promises to bring massive enhancements to the application's animation and rigging pipelines, improve the modeling and UV toolsets, enhance Eevee and Cycles, add new nodes and tools for sculpting, painting, and texturing, upgrade the software's rendering capabilities, and more. Earlier, it was also revealed that Blender 4.0 will give users the ability to set up custom operators using the software's Geometry Nodes toolset, facilitating the creation of node-based tools.

As always, the team also showcased the upcoming version's splash screen, with this one featuring a stunning painterly-like 3D illustration created by Gaku Tada, a Visual Artist and Art Director known to many for making amazing watercolor-style works, using Blender's Grease Pencil:
