Resident Evil 4 fans expected to get The Mercenaries DLC for the remake on April 7. What they didn't anticipate were microtransactions Capcom added the same day.
You can find Weapon Exclusive Upgrade Tickets on Steam; they allow you to upgrade your weapon at any point of the game, without leveling it up. Here is what the description says:
"To gun enthusiasts, knife collectors, and lovers of weapons of any and all kinds: here's your ticket to the gun show! Specifically a ticket to be redeemed at the Merchant's shop.
With this, you'll have access to a weapon's exclusive upgrade at any time, regardless of the weapon's level.
Not only that, but once unlocked, the upgrade itself is free of charge!"
One ticket costs $2.99, and there are also discounted packs of three and five tickets for $6.99 and 9.99.
The Mercenaries DLC, in contrast, is free and lets players go on a rampage killing monsters with an arsenal of weapons. It also adds Mayhem Mode – "unique abilities that add new layers of strategic and tactical depth never seen before in The Mercenaries".
