The sim was rendered with Karma XPU in three "layers".
CG Generalist and Houdini enthusiast Massimo Branca continues the series of impressive digital simulations with a new breathtaking 3D setup, powered by SideFX's renowned procedural 3D application.
This time, the creator unveiled a realistic-looking simulation of ocean waves made using the FLIP Solver node and rendered with Karma XPU, an engine within the Karma renderer that utilizes both CPU and GPU, in "three layers": the volumetric component only visible to secondary rays, as oriented disks for the one on the surface, and as particles for the airborne part. As for the project's size, the main FLIP simulation has around 400 MB/frame, while the whitewater part stands at a total cache size of 330 GB.
