Matt Stark showcased a game where you can build islands with diverse, picturesque landscapes.
Take a look at this island-building game islandoodle created by Sad Owl Studios' Game Director Matt Stark.
Islandoodle is a "Nordic-inspired island-building game," in which you build an island of procedurally generated terrain in a vast ocean just using your computer mouse. You can add rivers, piers, and other features to your islands. In the comments to the creator's Twitter post, players share images of the locations that they built in the game. They feature cozy, detailed islands with secluded houses, piers, and boats or vast mountainous landscapes with rapid rivers and picturesque forests.
The game has four example worlds, which you can edit. Also, you can share the code of the world you created or load other people's builds and edit them as well.
Recently, Matt Stark showcased another building game that he created, tramsterdam, a "minimalist Amsterdam-inspired town builder with trams":
Sad Owl is the studio behind the game Viewfinder, a first-person puzzle platformer with gameplay mechanics that defy common concepts of reality. In the game, you are equipped with an instant camera, with which you challenge perception, re-shape your surroundings, and open new locations:
In our interview, Matt Stark talked about the production process of Viewfinder and discussed optimizing the game for different platforms and its successful launch.
