Cuphead Is Getting a Unique Xbox Anniversary Update

This is more than just an update, it's a heartfelt gesture from Studio MDHR to express their appreciation for their loyal fan base.

Cuphead, a beloved indie game known for its delightful 1930s cartoon-inspired graphics and engaging gameplay experience, has gained a loyal fanbase since its release. With its distinct visual style and memorable soundtrack, the game has even resulted in the creation of its own animated series, The Cuphead Show.

Today Studio MDHR, the developer of the game, is ready to delight Cuphead fans with an exclusive Xbox Anniversary Update, designed as a sincere tribute to the community. This eagerly anticipated update, only available on Xbox and Windows starting September 29, introduces a lot of exciting features to further enrich the Cuphead experience.

The treat, or "a love letter", as the creators say, includes content that will feature more than 100 high-resolution photos sourced from the MDHR archives, showcasing previously unseen concept art and unused artwork. Additionally, it will include the complete Cuphead soundtrack, consisting of 86 tracks, which can be played for the first time all in one location. As you navigate the stylized menus, reminiscent of Cuphead's iconic 1930s animated style, an exclusive MIDI demo track by Kris Maddigan will accompany your experience.

"Original sketches, concept art, process footage of painting or model work, unused music tracks, orchestra session footage, you name it. Knowing that we wanted to give our thanks to the Xbox community that has shown us love from day 1, we really thought about the kinds of things we would want to see as fans of Cuphead. The goal was to make this update feel like a real peek behind the scenes at what went into bringing the game to life, across all parts of development!" shared Chad Moldenhauer, the Studio MDHR Co-Director.

As the gaming industry changes, updates like these show that game developers like Studio MDHR care about their players. Even though the company has mentioned they are ready to move on from Cuphead, the studio still goes above and beyond to create unforgettable experiences for their beloved game.
