Game developer Fraser Brumley has released their Dead Space PlayStation 1 demake that reimagines the iconic game in an older setting. The project was meant to help the creator learn Unreal Engine and "the PS1 aesthetic".
"Dead Space Demake has everything you want and more, from Necromorph limb dismemberment to affine texture mapping errors."
According to the developer, it is not a long experience – just "10 to 15 minutes", although Brumley says it's hard to say because they "got so good at speed running it while making it."
The original Dead Space was released in 2008, and the remake was launched on January 27, 2023. Who knows, maybe we will see a full-length demake one day, too.
