Eerie Creatures & Stunning Landscapes Made For a Game in UE5

Mamoru Kano showcased the latest additions to Otoshi no Shima.

Designer and Game Developer Mamoru Kano has recently shared a fantastic demo showcasing the latest additions to Otoshi no Shima, a WIP indie exploration game inspired by the folklore of Japan's Tohoku region.

With the latest demo, the developer highlighted the new features added to Otoshi no Shima during Fall 2023. These include new stunning Japan-style landscapes and eerie, unnerving creatures that resemble stormy clouds, black flames, and gigantic balls of fur with two bright red eyes menacingly gazing at the player. According to the author, both the scenes and creatures shown in the demo were created using Unreal Engine 5.

And here are some of the earlier demos shared by Mamoru:

Earlier, the developer also showcased a couple of impressive test animations of a gigantic water snake, set up using spline rigging and dynamically animated with Blueprints in UE5:
