Oculus Quest 2 is the absolute leader with over 30% of gamers using this headset which is almost a 1% growth compared to the previous survey. Then comes yet another Oculus product — Rift S with around 18% of players. Valve Index HMD is the last product in the top 3 headsets on Steam with a little over 16% of gamers.

The top 10 also includes three HTC headsets (HTC Vive, HTC Vive Pro, and HTC Vive Cosmos), two more Oculus devices (Oculus Rift and Oculus Quest), Windows Mixed Reality, and Riftcat Vridge. The rest of the headsets are used by less than 0.5% of Steam customers.

As Steam emphasizes, this data is used "to make decisions about what kinds of technology investments to make and products to offer." And as of recently, based on the results of the survey, SteamVR improved the experience for Oculus users — in the 1.18.5 update, the players will not need to restart SteamVR every time the Oculus runtime needs to reconnect to the HMD as SteamVR fixed the error handling of Oculus Link and Air Link.
