Factorio Is Increasing Price Due to Inflation

Surprising decision for a seven-year-old game.

Wube Software has announced its decision to increase the base price of its hit base-building game Factorio starting January 26. It sees it as "an adjustment to account for the level of inflation since the Steam release in 2016." New players will have to buy the game for $35 instead of $30.

Some people found this decision surprising considering the game is seven years old, especially as it never goes on sale – a thought-through move from the developers. But surprisingly, most players were fine with the news and several even offered to pay more.

This reaction is contrasting with what fans had to say about bigger companies, like Ubisoft or Microsoft, raising their prices. While Factorio is one of the first indie games to do so, we should probably be ready for more studios to announce changes soon.
