Here's a new game prototype from the TeaserPlay team.
While throughout the years we've seen multiple attempts at a Shrek game, both playable titles and proof-of-concept prototypes, most of them tend to follow the example of Activision's mediogre games from the '00s in terms of graphics, opting for a more cartoony NPR style. TeaserPlay, on the other hand, decided to do what they do best, depicting its version of a non-existent Shrek game as a photorealistic experience with Elden Ring vibes.
In the trailer, the devs showcased several high-quality recreations of the series' iconic locations, including what seems to be Fiona's castle from the first film, an old mill (also from the first film), and, of course, Shrek's cozy swamp, which in their version had grown a few extra trees, making it more akin to a forest than a marsh.
Additionally, the trailer provided a glimpse of some of the imaginary Shrek experience's characters, including the loveable ogre himself, Donkey, and Dragon, as well as a few generic guard NPCs, whom Shrek gives a beating in one of the trailer's scenes.
"Have you ever thought about a AAA Shrek game? It might sound like a joke, but such a game could be incredibly fun and attract a lot of attention," comments the team. "There is a lot of potential for creative gameplay. A Shrek game could be anything from a platformer to an RPG to an open-world adventure.
The game could be visually stunning. With modern graphics technology, a Shrek game could look absolutely amazing."
Previously, the team also showcased their vision for Star Wars: The Mandalorian, an enigmatic game rumored to be in development at some AAA gamedev studio, imagining it as an Earth-sized open-world title with the ability to leave the planet at any time and quickly move to its other parts:
