The package includes three iconic games with better physics, updated lighting, improved textures and same old glorious soundtrack.
After a couple of leaks, Rockstar and Take-Two finally announced a long-awaited re-release of the classic three games of the PS2 era: GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas. The price of your nostalgia is $70. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition will be available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The physical edition will be released a bit later, at the beginning of December. The games will also be available as part of Game Pass and PlayStation Now. You can preorder the game at the official website.
The visuals of the games did not change drastically, but it’s a lot more pleasing to the eye. Grove Street Games worked on The Definitive Edition using the Unreal Engine. There are some resolution updates, improved fidelity and lighting (better shadows, weather, and reflections), upscaled textures for buildings, weapons, roads, and interiors. Character and vehicle models have been updated. There’s also an all-new foliage system, smoother surfaces, and increased draw distances to provide a new level of depth and clarity throughout the world. Overall the aesthetic did not change much. The game runs at 4K/60FPS on current-get systems.
Rockstar was generous to add some quality of life improvements, which will most likely make these games more playable. The development team improved controls, added lock-on aiming, updated weapon wheels. You can also set waypoints to specific places on the map. Achievements and Trophies are updated as well.
We’re sure that in a year or so these classic games are going to look even better, thanks to the tireless modding community. Can’t wait to play it. What about you guys? Which one is your favorite?
