Hideki Kamiya, a well-known Game Designer and the Founder of PlatinumGames, has been quite active recently talking about his new YouTube channel, the reason for banning people on Twitter, sharing his thoughts on the Bayonetta series's future, and lately, disclosing details behind leaving the company he once founded.

Speaking with IGN about his departure from PlatinumGames, Kamiya placed divergence of views as the main reason. According to Kamiya, the company is focused on growing and expanding its business rather than on developing games that reflect their creators, titles that are like "works of art".

"My work with PlatinumGames was based on a relationship of trust with the company. I decided to leave because I felt that the direction the company was heading in was different from my beliefs as a developer. Without that element of trust, I couldn't continue working there, and so I left, so that I could continue working in what I consider to be the right way," shared Kamiya with IGN.

Also, Kamiya had a discussion with PlatinumGames' President and his longtime business partner Atsushi Inabathe about his decision to leave, and they parted ways amicably. However, many developers at the studio were saddened by the Game Designer's departure. Despite this, he has no regrets about leaving but does miss his colleagues.

"The reaction from the development teams was different. I never took my role at the company lightly, but I realized at that moment that they trusted me more deeply than I had expected. The fact that many of the team seemed so sad about it made me think deeply about this point," said Kamiya.

As for now, Kamiya will continue posting videos on his YouTube channel, as he thinks it's a good idea to communicate with fans and answer their questions. He won't be able to work until the end of 2024 (because of the agreement with PlaninumGames) so we won't see new projects from him, but he assures us that there is "a clear idea in mind" about the next game.
