Internet Connection Needed for Disc Installation of Star Wars Outlaws

Even with a shiny game disc in hand, you're still bound to the internet for installation – just like those without a disc.

Ubisoft Massive's much-anticipated Star Wars Outlaws game has an unexpected requirement for players: an internet connection is necessary for installation, even for those purchasing a physical copy of the game.

This is stated on the cover of the game's disc, at the bottom left and next to the ESRB rating info. This means that players will need to be online when installing Star Wars Outlaws for the first time, regardless of whether they have a physical disc. The size of the installation remains unknown at this point.

Ubisoft confirmed to IGN that while an internet connection is necessary for the game's installation and subsequent updates, players will be free to play offline thereafter.

Despite day-one patches not being a new concept and their necessity in delivering the most complete and up-to-date version of the game, some players still express their concerns due to issues like limited internet access and high data usage.

Just yesterday, Star Wars Outlaws offered fans a sneak peek at its storyline through a trailer release. The trailer introduced the lead characters, Kay Vess and Nix, their prospective crew, and some familiar faces from the Star Wars universe. Alongside the trailer, the pricing was revealed, with the Ultimate edition costing $130, a detail that was not liked by players.
