IronSource Founders Are Reportedly Leaving Unity

We will see new executives in the next six months.

We have seen a lot of news surrounding Unity lately, but not all of them are positive. A day after the company's plans to lay off 1,800 employees were disclosed, a new report claims that all ironSource founders are leaving Unity in the next six months.

According to an internal email seen by mobilegamer.biz, the founders of the development and monetization company Tomer Bar-Zeev, Omer Kaplan, Eyal Milrad, Arnon Harish, Tamir Carmi, and Assaf Ben Ami will soon vacate their positions, leaving Marc Whitten, Felix Thé, Nadav Ashkenazy, and Giancarlo Fasolo with new roles.

Whitten will be chief product and technology officer for Unity’s Create business, the report states. Thé will be appointed SVP of product and technology for Grow, Nadav Ashkenazy will be SVP and chief revenue officer for Grow, and Giancarlo Fasolo will be promoted to SVP of Aura, running independently from Grow. Jules Shumaker will stay as SVP and chief revenue officer.

The email sent by Unity's interim president and CEO Jim Whitehurst says that this change should help the company “bring legacy Unity and legacy IronSource people and culture much closer” as well as “reduce management layers and improve coordination in the organisation.”

“We believe that we have a tremendous opportunity to drive even greater success for our customers by eliminating the GM layer and moving to a flatter, more functional structure,” Whitehurst continued. “We will soon kick off an initiative to redefine our mission, values, and the behaviors that will bring them to life. This process will give us all the opportunity to shape the culture we want as a company together.”

The news comes a little over a year after the two companies completed the merger. Back then, Unity said that benefits from the union would be "particularly strong" for mobile game developers.
