Loco, an Indian Streaming Platform, Raised $9M During Seed Round

The platform founded by Anirudh and Ashwin Suresh launched last year, and the team behind Loco is planning to use the seed funding to further develop esports and streaming in the country.

The initial round of funding for Loco was led by Krafton, the developer behind PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, and Lumikai, India's first gaming and interactive media fund that aims to "find and fund game-changing early-stage founders with a bold vision for the future and to help them achieve outlier success."

The creators of the platform are planning to grow further by bringing more streamers to Loco, adding more original content, and organizing online events such as tournaments.

Loco is growing extremely fast as its top streamers have hundreds of thousands of followers and millions of views. The number of monthly active streamers on Loco has grown ten times, the number of monthly active viewers has grown six times, and live watch hours have increased by almost 50 times since June 2020. The most popular categories on the streaming platform include Valorant, Battlegrounds Mobile India, GTA 5, and Free Fire.
