On Thursday, Microsoft took the title of the most valuable company in the world from Apple, albeit briefly. That was the first time it happened since 2021.

According to Reuters, Microsoft's market valuation rose to $2.903 trillion during trading, while Apple's reached $2.886 trillion. However, the iPhone maker returned to its crowned place at market close.

The growing interest in Microsoft's shares is most likely connected to its AI initiatives, especially after its investment in ChatGPT's creator OpenAI. Apple, on the other hand, has been struggling with weakening demand for its products, including iPhone.

At the moment, Apple's market value is $2.886 trillion, while Microsoft's is $2.858 trillion, according to CompaniesMarketCap. Here are the top 10 most valuable companies today:

  1. Apple
  2. Microsoft
  3. Saudi Aramco
  4. Alphabet (Google)
  5. Amazon
  6. NVIDIA
  7. Meta Platforms (Facebook)
  8. Berkshire Hathaway
  9. Tesla
  10. Eli Lilly
