NetherRealm Studios, the developers of the Mortal Kombat franchise, have reportedly let go of the entire mobile team.
This is according to several team members who have taken to social media to talk about the situation (first spotted by ResetEra). Tony Lazzara, a former Quality Assurance in the team, wrote on LinkedIn:
“Good morning internet. Unfortunately, yesterday NetherRealm’s mobile team was shut down. A ton of very talented people were put out of work. We had live services on multiple titles such as Mortal Kombat Mobile, Injustice 2, and Mortal Kombat Onslaught.”

Elizabeth Ramirez, an animator who has been working for the studio for 10 years, was also affected, as did Antonio De Francesco, a software engineer. According to Samantha Edward, another QA staff member, "We're all probably in shock, but a lot of us will be posting something like this today or soon.”
Established in 2010, NetherRealm Studios is a Chicago-based American video game developer, owned by Warner Bros. Games. Under the leadership of Ed Boon, a veteran of the video game industry and co-creator of Mortal Kombat, the studio focuses on the development of the Mortal Kombat and Injustice series of fighting games.
