Narrative-Driven Mystery Adventure Inspired By Myst & Firewatch

Uncover the secrets of an abandoned Dimhaven island in a world of challenges, exploration, and puzzles, brought to you by the creators of Quern.

Taking inspiration from memorable narrative experiences like Quern, Myst, and Firewatch to form a mixture of adventure, puzzle-solving, and exploration-driven storytelling, Dimhaven Enigmas is an immersive, narrative-driven adventure, where you take on the role of Emily Ravenstone on a mission to find her uncle on the strange island of Dimhaven.

Dimhaven, a deserted island in an alternate 1980s, hides a dark secret. Inspired by a lost Eastern European country, it was once a tourist paradise, but now its fate is shrouded in mystery. Cargo transportation ceased long ago, and barely any news reaches the island – and none leaves it. Or so it seems.

The game begins with a clear path and storyline but soon transforms into an open-world experience: hiking trails, ancient ruins, secret passages, optional tasks, and photo challenges, these will all reward you with a deeper understanding of your surroundings.

As photorealism in gaming has lost some of its charm and uniqueness with modern technology, the developers aim for a visual style that utilizes new technology for visual precision but stays true to the classics of the genre. With this approach, they designed a world that resonates with the old-school gamer and can also showcase stunning scenery.

Gameplay-wise, Dimhaven Enigmas offers reusable puzzles, a progressive hint system that pays close attention to your progress, your own camera with zoom, focus, and flash, and the ability to draw or type on the pictures you take. Watch this video to see this in action:

Also, this is how first-person hand animations actually look in the game. The bird had a good reason to be scared:

You can try the demo on Steam and head over to Kickstarter if you liked what you saw, learn more about the game, and support the development.
