Yes, even worse than Overwatch 2.

In less than a week following its release, NBA 2K24, the latest installment in the well-known basketball simulator series developed by Visual Concepts and published by 2K, already broke several anti-records, becoming not only one of the worst games in 2K's history but also getting the title of Steam's lowest-rated game.
At the time of writing this, out of more than six thousand reviews, only 9% are positive, branding the game with the Overwhelmingly Negative status and the title of Steam's worst game among releases with over 1,000 reviews.
The game's launch was so lackluster that it managed to outdo a previous anti-record set by Overwatch 2, relegating Blizzard's most disappointing sequel to the second-worst game on Steam. According to Steam 250, NBA 2K24 sports a meager positive score of 0.96, while OW2 managed a slight improvement with a score of 1.00.
When it comes to the reasons behind this wave of disdain, Steam reviewers had a lot to say. They pointed out various issues, including the game's failure to introduce significant new features when compared to NBA 2K23, the absence of crossplay and next-gen performance on PC, the underwhelming MyCareer mode, performance issues and crashes, hackers, and an overabundance of microtransactions, among others. One reviewer summed up the main complaints perfectly, saying that "2K don't care about PC".

It seems that the disappointing performance of the game has already had an impact on the developers. Not too long ago, we covered the news that Visual Concepts underwent a significant round of layoffs, resulting in the unexpected departure of Joseph Cowan, a former Associate Producer at the studio, and several other employees from the QA and design departments.
