NVIDIA Announced DLSS 3.5 Upscaling Technology

It is focused on ray tracing reconstruction.

At Gamescom 2023, NVIDIA announced an update to its DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) AI upscaling technology.

As reported by VideoCardz, DLSS 3.5 will improve ray tracing with Ray Reconstruction (RR), enhancing visuals compared to denoising techniques. Ray Reconstruction has apparently been trained on five times more data than DLSS 3 to take into account additional game and software engine data, recognize ray-traced effects, distinguish between good and bad temporal and spatial pixels, and preserve high-frequency data for upscaling.

NVIDIA is distancing its tech from denoising as it removes important data required for upscaling leading to a loss of color data and can result in inaccurate lighting and lower-quality reflections.

DLSS 3.5 will be released in fall, appearing in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, Portal with RTX, and Alan Wake 2. You will also see it in NVIDIA Omniverse, Chaos Vantage, and D5 Renderer.
