According to a job opening, the studio is working on "a new AAA IP with a first party publisher" which might be Project Indus. Rumors have it that the game might appear on Microsoft's Xbox/Bethesda game showcase this year.
Oxide Games, the studio best known for its real-time strategy game Ashes of the Singularity, is officially working on a new AAA game.
As spotted by IdleSloth84, the company is currently hiring a platform networking engineer who is expected to work on "a new AAA IP with a first party publisher". The job description also notes that "Xbox Live SDK/GDK development experience" would be a plus.
Previously, thanks to the GeForce leak, it was rumored that the studio is now developing a game codenamed Indus that will be published by Xbox Game Studios. Windows Central's Jez Corden then reported that had heard of the title back in spring 2021 saying that it would be a 4X strategy game similar to Civilization which features turn-based strategic elements along with city building, empire advancement, diplomacy, and warfare.
He also suggested that Project Indus might be designed for cloud platforms as well as PC and Xbox. Shortly after the job opening appeared on Oxide Games' website, Corden took to Twitter to say that the game has already been in development "for a few years" and shared that he feels that we could see it at Microsoft’s Xbox/Bethesda game showcase.
Corden added that Project Indus is supposed to be a "fairly large game" and, although he's unsure yet, it may probably appear on Xbox One. The Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase is slated for June 12.
